Beware.....there is alot of redeye because I am terrible at editing these.  We had a great time at Lincolns Sports Grille.  They had live music and tons of T.V.'s with the games playing.  I can say this was a little bit of a break that we all needed.  Friends and family together is the greatest gift of all!

Christmas party

Well....tonight is our annual Christmas party.  I have decided to stay casual (because we ARE casual) and have it at Lincoln's Sports Grill (not bar) in Oak Ridge.  I think the menu is burgers and fries type stuff.  Ofcourse there will be beer for some of them!  Pictures will be EDITED and posted here this weekend.

Friday:  Eric and Craig will be removing the old cabinets from the Holder home in order to prepare for the install on Monday.  If everyone can make it to work today we will continue to construct the Goldston job and start cutting the parts for the Mccarroll job.  I have a new job we will start next week for Jolly.

The little bit of snow and ice has put us behind about 2 days.  This time of year is bad for schedules due to weather, illness and holidays.  The holidays are important and we all need to take the time to spend with family and friends.  Forget about work and schedules...forget about finding that perfect gift for someone special....spend some time with them.  Do not go to Walmart or Target within 5 days of Christmas unless you want to create more stress.  Just have a Merry Christmas and relax!

Christmastime work

I have neglected to post any news for a while.  I did get some photos of the Ramsey kitchen install.  We used a black paint over solid maple hardwood, and red paint for the island.  The doors are solid maple raised panel square design.  It has raised panel sides and a very nice raised panel back on the center island.  I have a photo of the bar countertop support brackets.  The drawers are solid poplar dovetail construction with soft close drawer guides.  It is hard to see the detail on the glass panel doors.  I picked up a very nice patterned glass from State of The Art in West Knoxville.  The granite countertops were fabricated by Rocky Tops Marble and Granite.  The customer coordinated all of the materials very well.

We have since installed the cabinets for Endsley, but have not had time to get the photos taken.  However I did get a call from another customer that saw the completed job and gave it a "10"!  We have just put the finishing touches on the hickory wood job for Holder.  We will be installing it on Monday the 20th.

The "rustic" cherry cabinets (living room built-ins) for Milner we installed on Tuesday.  Did not get any photos of it, but the customer was so impressed that he is looking forward to replacing his old kitchen cabinets soon.  This job was in Rhea County (about 1 1/2 hr. round trip), and we have done several successful jobs in that area.  Also in Rhea County we will deliver the Hickory cabinets to the Bornhoeft home hopefully on Friday.  I say hopefully because we have had a bout of unpredictable weather earlier this week and things are not looking good tonight (Wed.).

In the shop this week:  Goldston, Mccarroll and Koprince with a few odds and ends.  Koprince is the maple job we are working on that will be painted off white with a brown glaze.  The center island will be light green.  The Goldston job is maple with a chestnut stain, and the Mccarroll job is maple with a chestnut stain as well.  As a matter of fact I just sold another maple with chestnut stain today.  Maybe we have hit on something good here!

We are still doing about 7 remodel jobs to 1 new home.  Hopefully new construction will come back, but we are getting good at the remodels (lots of practice!).

Our annual Christmas party is Friday night.  Then I'm off the finish Christmas shopping Saturday and Sunday.  I haven't even mailed my Christmas cards yet!

Enjoy the photos......

End of week

We installed the Ramsey cabinets this week.  We have a little extra work to do on Monday to get this job totally finished.  It's.....complicated.  Anyhow, it turned out great!  I hope to get some photos early next week.  We will be installing the cabinets for Endsley on Tuesday, and delivering the cabinets for the Bornhoeft job toward the end of the week.  We are building the cabinets for Milner and Holder in our shop.  We will be starting the cabinets for Goldston next week.

Friday a.m. was like a fire drill.  Our evil stepchild (ritter pocket hole driller) was acting up as usual.  Never mind it is about 150 years old and gets used and abused every day.  We just keep feeding it new parts every now and then.  If I have time I'll take a picture of the shoe that we installed to buffer the moving parts below the drill bits.  So after my trip to the local machine shop to get parts fixed I encountered the usual incoming weekend fix-ups.  Drawer guides / trim / handles / hinges.  Got that under control and proceeded to stain a few odds and ends in the shop.  Ordered some countertops and made some return calls and BOOM...it was time to go home.

Today was our last day to take new orders for Christmas delivery / install.  Now we have 3 weeks (less) to get it all done.  We are having our annual Christmas party @ Lincoln's Grill in Oak Ridge.  Just burgers and fries, etc.  It will be great for all of us to get together outside of work.

Posting new photos tomorrow....

Ramsey job continued

We were busy putting the finishing touches on the cabinets for Ramsey today.  I am posting the photos of the red island.  Yes....I did say red.  Once it all comes together with the black cabinets and the granite countertop it will be fantastic.  The granite tops will be installed on Friday, and I can get the photos next week.

Craig and Eric will be installing the Ramsey cabinets tomorrow (Tues.).  Wednesday they will be working in Kingston installing a countertop and back to the shop working on some odds and ends.

In the shop Tim and Eric H. will be working on the parts for Milner which is "rustic" cherry.  Tracy and Stan will be working toward building the Milner job getting the shelves, drawers and trim ready.  As always Bill and Jerry will be finishing (top coating) any and all parts we send out to them!

I am still on the look-out for the knobs that go with the Franks vanity.  Don't you just love it when you can't quite remember ANYTHING!

Still in the works are the Holder, Koprince and Goldston jobs.  The weather is getting nasty....so we will be getting bogged down on our sealing and top coat finish.

By the way....do not pay attention to the date on the pictures.  I have been too lazy to change the date on my camera for about 2 years.  So it is not going to get done any time soon.

See you on Wednesday.....

Overtime work

We had a break for Thanksgiving on Thursday, and then back to work on Friday.  We are busy finishing up the Ramsey cabinets as well as the Bornhoeft and Endsley cabinets.

I am posting the pictures of the Ramsey job, and a vanity we completed for Franks.  We had a few days of nasty weather, but the sky is beautiful today with more nice days ahead.  Hopefully we will be ready to install the cabinets for Ramsey Tuesday or Wednesday.  Delivery of the Bornhoeft cabinets will be late next week, and install the cabinets for Endsley on Friday.

We will be starting construction of the cabinets for Holder and Milner on Monday.  The cabinets for Holder are hickory wood with a golden pecan stain.  The cabinets for Milner are "rustic" cherry with a clear finish.

Well...we are still munching on cookies, ham, anything else leftover from Thanksgiving.  I finally put the Halloween decor away @ the office and got the Christmas stuff out.  I got caught up on my files.  It was getting to be about 12" high so I figured it was about time!

Next post will be pictures of the Ramsey install....

Cabinet install today

There is nothing quite like driving 30 minutes in the pouring rain to get to your jobsite, and you are already 1 hour late.  We did make it....got set up and got to work.  I am posting pictures from today's activity.  Use your imagination because there were other subs in the house along with the customer, and basically progess is messy!  We did get finished and the countertops will be coming soon after they measure tomorrow.  Customer was happy after some minor adjustments here and there.  A special thank you to Craig and Eric for all the hard work.

We picked up a turkey to deep fry at work tomorrow.  By the way...we have no idea how long it takes a 13 lb. turkey to thaw, but hopefully less than 20 hours.  I have no clue how the process of the deep fry works, but Eric (installer) will be taking care of the details.  So we will be having a little pre-Thanksgiving celebration tomorrow at work.  We deserve a little down time.

We have been busy in the shop working on the Endsley job and the Ramsey job.  Ramsey will be installed next week, and Endsley by the end of next week.  We have alot ahead of us on the Ramsey job.  Please say a little prayer for us.  We may have to squeeze in a little weekend overtime, but we will pull it off!

Happy Thanksgiving!!!!

Getting ready for the holidays!

We have been overwhelmed with so many new jobs this fall.  Most of them are kitchen remodel with just a few new homes mixed in.  We have seen a change in the number of new homes being built in Roane, Anderson, Loudon and Knox Counties.  Homeowners are sprucing up, and increasing the value of their existing homes.

With Thanksgiving right around the corner we busy installing the cabinets for a new home in the Claxton area. The style is traditional Cherry raised panel with a custom mixed stain. Hopefully I can get the photos up by the end of the week.  We have 3 jobs in production.  Bornhoeft job is hickory with a provencial stain.  Koprince job is maple - off white paint with the island in a pale green.  Ramsey job is maple with black paint and a burnt red island.  Up next is Holder job which will be hickory with a golden pecan stain.

The guys in the shop have been greatful for the mild weather that we have had this November.  Hopefully it will stay that way so we can stay on schedule.  However....a few snow days would be fun!!

I have good intentions to get the photos on here over the Thanksgiving holidays.  I know customers, employees, family and friends will enjoy the view!!!
